1. First Steps to Business (FSB) - Level 2 Certificate

 

This programme aims to prepare students for the CSBM or further business study.  The FSB will develop student understanding of:

 

• Generic business concepts and processes
• Business literacy
• Business numeracy.

The primary focus of FSB is to encourage greater self dependence and to foster entrepreneurship and self employment.

       2. Certificate in Small Business Management (CSBM) – Level 4 Certificate

 

The CSBM aims to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to set up and operate their own business.  The most important outcome of the programme is to develop a comprehensive business plan specific to student's own business (or business idea).  The CSBM develops student understanding of small business management, business law, marketing, personnel management, accounting and financial management.

 

Both programmes are offered via two delivery options: contact (in-class) or mixed mode (mixture of correspondence and in-class workshops) which means flexibility for students and tutors.
