How the Census benefits Maori?
Statistics collected on Census Day provide vital information for government and Maori organisations making important planning decisions for our future. The census is a key source of statistical information in this way.
The census provides planning information for central government, local government, business, iwi, community groups and charities, and for determining the number of Maori electorates.
The census data collected from every New Zealander in the country on Tuesday, 7 March 2006, gives Maori organisations a wealth of information.
