Convention on Biological Diversity (CDB),COP8/MOP3 Stakeholder Meeting
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) wishes to invite interested groups or individuals to attend a meeting on Monday 27 February to exchange views on issues to be discussed at two forthcoming meetings of the Convention on Biological Diversity:
- Eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 8), to be held in Curitiba, Brazil, from 20 – 31 March.
- Third Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (MOP 3), to be held in Curitiba, Brazil, from 13 to 18 March.
The meeting will be hosted by the Environment Division of MFAT at the Ministry’s head office on Lambton Quay.

Time: 12:50 – 4:30 pm
Venue: Level 12, HSBC Tower, 195 Lambton Quay, Wellington
The format for the meeting will involve short 5 or 10 minute presentations on some of the key issues by staff from relevant government departments, followed by an opportunity to ask questions and/or make comments by participants. An agenda for the meeting is attached along with the provisional agenda for COP 8 and MOP 3 prepared by the CBD Secretariat.
If there are items of interest not covered in the agenda for the stakeholder meeting, but which prospective participants would like to discuss, we would be grateful if you could indicate these when confirming attendance and, pending sufficient time and interest, we will endeavour to include them in a revised agenda.
