Ministry for the Environment’s national environmental reporting programme

A key focus of the Ministry for the Environment’s national environmental reporting programme is to produce a series of national environmental ‘report cards’ to provide updated information on the indicators reported in Environment New Zealand 2007 (the country’s second national state of the environment report). These web-based reports are designed for a wide readership, and will be published on a regular basis (in some cases, annually) as new data becomes available.

The first national environmental report card looking at marine areas with legal protection is now available on the Ministry for the Environment’s website (see link below). A further three report cards looking at household consumption, road transport and air quality are close to completion. River water quality and waste composition report cards are due out early next year.
