Te Awe Wellington Maori Business Network Breakfast

Rainey Collins recently hosted the Human Rights Commission, Te Awe Wellington Maori Business Network and the Federation of Maori Authorities at a function held at the firm's Wellington office. Chaired by Human Rights Commissioner Dr. Judy McGregor, the speakers included Rainey Collins Chairman of Partners James Johnston and Maori Language Commissioner Haami Piripi.

The Human Rights Commission recognises the business community as an important part of the community in their role of engaging communities in dialogue to "promote a better understanding of the human rights dimesnions of the Treaty of Waitangi. The breakfast was an opportunity to meet this aim and attendees looked at the different issues around business and the Treaty, which included looking at how these were being dealt with.

A copy of James Johnston’s presentation dealing with the role of and opportunities for business in relation to the Treaty is available here
